Comedy at Ashkenaz!

Bay Area comedian and comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig (of Kung Pao Kosher Comedy), and Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center joined forces last year to bring the East Bay a new monthly (the second Thursday of the month) comedy series, Comedy at Ashkenaz!

This month's show features Dan St Paul, Milt Abel, Jill Maragos, and Lisa Geduldig.

Dan St. Paul grew up in San Francisco's Mission District and moved to LA where he appeared on several episodes of An Evening at the Improv, numerous shows on VH-1, MTV, and Comedy Central. He has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, and others. He appeared in the movie Flubber with Robin Williams and signed a recording deal with MCA records. His CD, Natural and Good for You contains one the most requested comedy pieces on radio, "The First Baseball Game." He also is the star of his own one-man play, Outer Mission, Middle Class - The Comic Diary of an Immigrant's Son. Corporate clients include Hewlett Packard, IBM, Intel, Nations Bank, Philips Magnavox, Chevron, and Blue Cross. The majority of Dan's material comes from being a suburban husband and father and dealing with the frustrations of everyday life. He lives in Foster City with his wife and son. www.danstpaul.com

Milt Abel is a stand-up comedian with over 35 years of experience. Starting in the heyday of the San Francisco comedy scene of the 1980's, Milt went on to headline comedy clubs throughout North America and cruise ships throughout the world. Besides numerous TV appearances (An Evening At The Improv and comedy specials for PBS and Showtime) and having written for Dennis Miller's TV show, Milt's stand up performances are heard regularly on SiriusXM comedy channels. He also an accomplished author, publishing a collection of humorous short stories about cruise ship life "Stories from the Delux" and a novel "The Deductions." www.miltabel.com

Jill Maragos developed her sense of humor and knack for storytelling as a survival tactic for growing up with a crazy family in Buffalo, NY. With degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Mechanical Engineering, she made the natural progression into stand up comedy. This year Jill was selected to perform on Audible's "Fresh Voices of Comedy" at SF Sketchfest. She performs regularly at The Punchline and Cobb's Comedy Club in San Francisco and has appeared on "The Office" (NBC), "Laughs" (FOX), "Comedy Time" for The Ice House in Pasadena (YouTube), and "West Coast Comedy" (Hulu). She performs throughout the country.

Lisa Geduldig is a local comedian and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedyâ,,¢ - Jewish comedy on Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant (which celebrates its 25th Anniversary last December); Comedy Returns to El Rio! (which just celebrated its 10th Anniversary in May). She moonlights as a bilingual (Spanish-English) publicist.

Dave Mason & Steve Cropper Rock & Soul Review Introducing Gretchen Rhodes



Two CLASSIC artists performing a night of CLASSIC hits!

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Dave Mason and Steve Cropper join and play together for the first time on one stage to deliver a night of timeless music and endless hits, performing material that defined a generation.

Dave Mason, founding member of the band Traffic, highly successful solo artist, consummate guitarist, songwriter and producer, has performed and recorded with numerous members of the pantheon of pop and rock and roll music including Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Graham Nash, Fleetwood Mac, Steve Winwood and more.

Steve Cropper, member of Booker T and the MG's, the Stax Records house band during the label's most influential period, backed artists such as Otis Redding, Carla Thomas, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave and Rufus Thomas and member of The Blues Brothers Band. Cropper was ranked #39 on Rolling Stone's top 100 guitarists of all time.

This collaboration and multi-media show will include some of each artists' beloved and most memorable hits including "All Along The Watchtower", "Only You Know and I Know", "Every Woman" and "We Just Disagree" plus the rock anthem "Feelin' Alright", along with "(Sittin' On) "The Dock of the Bay", "Green Onions", "In the Midnight Hour" and "Knock on Wood".

Take a journey back to the greatest days of rock with Dave Mason's sight and sound experience,
Traffic Jam. Join Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and co-founder of the legendary band Traffic, Dave Mason for an evening of music history as he retraces the earliest days of his career with Traffic and the works that launched his successful solo career.
Mason founded Traffic with Steve Winwood while both were still teenagers, and created music that would find its way into the hearts of generations of music lovers. He would go on to establish himself as a successful songwriter, guitarist and solo artist.
Mason has penned dozens of hits, and his legendary guitar work has been linked with numerous other members of rock and roll elite, including Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, Rita Coolidge, Leon Russell, Ron Wood and Mama Cass Elliot.

Steve Cropper
American guitarist, songwriter, arranger and producer, born 21 October 1941 near Dora, Missouri.

Founding member of both The Mar-Keys (originally named The Royal Spades) in the late 1950's, and Stax' in-house band Booker T & The MG's in the early 1960's. Was succesfully active for the label as an A&R manager, musician, one-time solo artist, engineer, producer and songwriter, co-writing classic songs such as Knock On Wood, The Dock Of The Bay and In the Midnight Hour.

He left Booker T & The MG's and the label in 1970, to embark on a career as a session musician and producer, working with artists like Jeff Beck, Tower Of Power and Ringo Starr. In the 1980's he recorded two more solo albums. Cropper is also an original member of The Blues Brothers Band. In the early 70s he belongs to the stuff of Clover Recorders.

Gretchen Rhodes
Gretchen Rhodes has been singing for her entire life. The daughter of parents who both have their Masters in music, Gretchen grew up classically trained. Most of Rhodes' adult life she has fronted Rock and Blues bands. Gretchen has been a part of Mick Fleetwoods Island Rumours Band for the last 9 years. Within that time the singer/songwriter has shared the stage with the likes of Blues Phenom Jonny Lang, hard rocker James Hetfield and legendary musician Steven Tyler to name a few. Most recently Gretchen has sung with Kenny Chesney on Chesney's album "Life on a Rock". She also starred in Chesney's video "Wild Child". Gretchen also sang with Kenny for the sold out finale show at the New England Patriots Gillette Stadium.

Rhodes continues to live on Maui and make Deep House Music with her Embassy of Joy producer and partner Pio Marasco. Together and separately Marasco and Rhodes have 65 tracks that have been released.
