Introduced by historian Peter N. Carroll, author of The Odyssey of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade: Americans in the Spanish Civil War
The Good Fight tells the inspiring story of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, a ragtag group of American citizens who joined the fight against Franco during the Spanish Civil War. The stirring documentary punctuates impassioned testimonies of veterans with harrowing archival footage to reveal how death loomed over these citizen-soldiers. With short Guernica (Alain Resnais, Robert Hessens, France, 1950), which considers one of the Spanish Civil War’s worst atrocities through Pablo Picasso’s masterpiece.
Presented in conjunction with events on the UC Berkeley campus commemorating the 80th anniversary of the start of the Spanish Civil War.
