Jazz-Opera Fusion Concert for Nepal

-A benefit for artists, musicians and musical training & instruments for street children in Nepal, featuring Opera, Jazz, Nepali music and excerpts from Douglas Cuomo's fusion "opera" ARJUNA'S DILEMMA.
-Artists include: George Brooks, Saxophone; Annalisa Winberg & Roy Stevens, International Opera Singers; Jonathan Khuner, Piano; the Bay Area Nepali Acoustic Duo, Rohit Serchan & Ren Gurung.

The program will be about 80 minutes of music, plus a short intermission. The music will be roughly in 4 segments:
1. Operatic numbers--arias and duets, featuring Ms. Winberg and Mr. Stevens, and including Mr. Brooks on saxophone
2: Nepali popular and folk music, performed by Rohit & Ren
2. Compositions by George Brooks, featuring Mr. Brooks, with some collaboration by Mr. Khuner
3. Excerpts from Arjuna's Dilemma by Douglas Cuomo

Then two possible encores of Nepali pop tunes, with all 6 performers.

Interspersed with the music, at appropriate points, will be explanations of the musical numbers, and in particular a description of the One World Theatre ARJUNA'S DILEMMA Kathmandu project which will be taking place in Nepal September 1 - 11, under the direction of Deborah Merola of Berkeley. Winberg, Stevens, and Khuner are leading and participating in that production.
