Local East Bay pianist Anne Rainwater performs the complete Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach. Anne received her masters degree in Contemporary Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and makes her home in Oakland, where she teaches privately and freelances throughout the Bay Area. Featuring dancers Melissa Cruz, Clare Rodriguez Stanley, Holly Shaw and
guitarist/singer Esteban Bello.
Melissa Cruz is a full-time professional flamenco dancer based in the San
Francisco Bay Area. When she is not touring the world with various
flamenco companies, she divides her time between practicing and teaching
her many students in her studio in Oakland, California. She is renowned
for her powerful and exciting style.
Clare Rodriguez Stanley began her study of flamenco dance in early
childhood with Roberto Amaral, Eva Yerbabuena and Belen Maya. She began
her professional flamenco dance career in Spain in her early twenties,
performing with such noted artists as Rafalin Habichuela, Emilio Maya, Ana
Calf and Juan Angel Tirado. She is the director of her own flamenco
company, Aqua Clara Flamenco. She continues to teach, perform and tour on
a regular basis.
Holly Shaw is well known as a flamenco dancer in the Bay Area, where she
performs regularly. She also gives workshops exploring the spiritual side
of dance performance, empowering others to tap into their inner being as a
source of artistic inspiration. She is celebrated for her lyrical
interpretation of flamenco, where she incorporates elements of other dance
forms.
Esteban Bello brings to flamenco a unique blend of musical styles. He
began his professional career as a New York jazz musician at the age of
13. He later won a scholarship to study classical guitar with Andres
Segovia, Julian Bream and Narciso Yepes. In addition, he attended Mannes
Conservatory of Music. A protege of Jason McGuire, El Rubio, Esteban has
studied flamenco for the last ten years. He has also studied flamenco
singing with Agustin Rios, Anzonini del Puerto, Manuel Malena, Jesus
Montoya and Jose Cortes.
