The Berkeley Arts Festival and Peace for Keeps will celebrate Berkeley's 8th annual Peace Symbol Birthday (its 57th) with a sing-along of inspiring peace and protest songs led by beloved Bay Area troubadour Marcus Duskin.
Inspired by Spain's greatest painting, Francisco Goya's The Shootings of the 3rd of May, 1808, and developed into the British semaphore signals for N (nuclear) and D (disarmament), The Peace Symbol was created on February 21,1958 by conscientious objector Gerald Holtom for the 1st Ban-the-Bomb march Easter weekend from
London to England's Aldermarston nuclear facility.
