Book and Lyrics by Walter Halsey Davis
Music by Marc Ream and Jeremy Sullivan
directed by Michael R. Cohen
Filled with intense drama, wry humor, and music alternately elegaic and joyful, Panhandle follows a cotton farming community desperately trying to hold onto their way of life amidst the twin calamities of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. Whereas Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath concentrated on the travails of those who pulled up stakes and migrated West, Panhandle focuses on the trials and tribulations of those who tried to keep their community together in the only place they'd ever known as home.
Fridays and Saturdays 8 p.m., January 9th - 31st, 2015. Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on January 18th and 25th.
