Local pianist and composer Matthew Goodheart has completed his Phd at Berkeley in composition and is moving away after being at the center of creative music activity here in the bay area for three decades. i've been inspired by his playing since the first time i heard him play duo with drummer Donald Robinson back in the early 90's, and he has been refining his sound and approach along the way. we will be sorry to lose this guy - but Matthew, Phd in hand, has job offers that are leading him away - we wish him good luck and success and safe travels - come out and say it in person and hear Matthew playing with many of the folks he has been collaborating over the years.
